Oberfeldartz Dr. Walter Lichtschlag aka SS-Oberführer

Today I was going thru my "unsorted" Soldbucher trying to pick up few more to sell, because I really have way too many.

Oberfeldartz Lichtschlag looked like another moderately interesting officer who was serving in Feldlazarett 211 that belonged to 211. Sicherungs-Division. This particular Division did some bad things during WW2, but I am interested in other matters when it comes to collecting paperwork... I think I got this one from Weitze together with dozen other officer's Soldbucher, they all came from an old collection that someone had sold to Weitze. During that time Lichtschlag's other career wasn't mentioned, so price was not that much.

Luckily I googled him this time: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Lichtschlag

Yes he was an Oberfeldartz, but he was also SS-Oberführer and his SS number was rather low 18332. Dr. Lichtschlag also received the SS-Totenkopf ring and Ehrendegen.

That's a good looking Soldbuch and the extra information is a great find. Just as well you did another check to see if any extra information had been posted about him.

Can't quite read the dates, but interesting to see the KVK 1st entered well before the 2nd class. Great book!

EDIT: Looks like the KVK 2nd entry is dated same as KVK 1. Probably just a clerk oversight.

Looks like both KVK2 and KVK1 have same date of issue? He was signing for his own awards too...

Very interesting Soldbuch, especially with the additional info.....

I have a SS Stubaf.d.Res. Soldbuch but made out to him as his Army rank which was Heer Stabsarzt!

No doubt you find this info as well:

                      Hello,

I am the new owner of this interesting Soldbuch. Can someone tell me more about the role of a SS-Oberabschnittarzt? What duties? He was the highest SS-arzt in SS-Oberabschitt Südost(Schlesien), interesting to note is that the Auschwitz concentration camp was in the SS-Oberabschnitt Südost. Could there be a relation between him, as highest SS-arzt, and the camp? I will assume that he exactly knew what happened in Auschwitz.

In 1945 Oberführer Lichtschlag was taken prisoner, he was held in captivity in Ludwigsburg, he was released in 1948.

                      Thanks in advance,

                      Aram
