    SS soldbuch, your opinion please.

    This is for sale at a swedish site right now as original:
    The question is, is it good? What I dont like is: he looks a bit to young for some of the enteries (Some 1940, and the guy looks to be 15 or so) and then: If the enteries is 1940, and in the pic he wear a M43 cap? Well thats just my speculations and i dont know much about this kind of stuff so would like your opinions.

    This SS soldbuch and medals are for sale at a swedish site right now: Iam woundering, is it any good? I think he looks a bit to young to have been in service 1939, and how is it possible that he can wear a M43 cap, in a soldbuch with enteries from 1939? (As long as he dident get a replacement)
    So i would like your opinions please.

      I don't think you would like this Soldbuch in your collection.
      There would be no problem for a mann born 1919, as the owner of this soldbuch was, to see service in 1939. There would be no prblem with a photo, where he wears a m43 cap, as Soldbuch were added photos in 1943.

      First thing which shows that there are something wrong with this Soldbuch is the stamp on the photo. Totally bul.....it. Fake stamp
      Second thing, I never saw a divisions stamp on the photo in a Soldbuch for an NCO. Normally there would be a company stamp. If a divisions stamp, I would only exspect to see it in high ranking officers Soldbuch.
      Third, (this not a reason to say that the Soldbuch is fake, but to illustrate how practice was) In must of the early Waffen SS Soldbuch's, the rank which was written in the Soldbuch were the same as those used by the Wehrmacht. They didn't use SS Sturmmann but Gefreiter. This practice changed late 1941-early 1942.

        It looks fake to me, weird rubberstamps; strange, forced handwritting; poorly applied attempt at soiling the pages; the photo doesn't look right either.

          Also notice, that the guy on the photo, which aappears t have the rank of SS Mann / SS Schütze.

          How can he be decorated as a SS Schütze with all those awards, when he in February 1939 becomes the rank of SS Rottenführer. This means that he would have been awarded all his medals before the war started.

                I would agree, save your money. But you could always save a picture of it
                for future reference for yourself on how some bad ones look.

                        I agree Lasse...The first "red flag" for me was the way the picture was attached....I believe authentic ones were either stapled or riveted in....This one appears to be glued....I also agree that the applied text looks poorly done...I wouldn't purchase it as an authentic piece....Bodes

                          Although the Soldbuch is fake, your statement is incorrect Bodes.
                          You can find originals with photos glued in. Also rivetted like the Wehrpaß, stapled and even stitched in!

                            Ian, Let's rephrase that than.....Bad Soldbuchs tend to have pictures glued in (as opposed to being stapled or riveted) .....Bodes

                              Hello Lasse,

                              Could you please tell me who the dealer is selling this item? It would be interesting to see what else they are selling. I ask as a dealer with any decent knowledge of the subject matter would be hard pressed to explain why they believe that nonsense is original.
