I almost went for it but thought that $280 was a bit much. I then choked on my sandwich when I realised it was £280. Still someone bought it...was he a DKiG winner or something that was not mentioned in the description?

Hello Gary,

No DKiG listed for him that I could find. It was a nice WP though although pricey. I thought you might have gotten it. Just a guess, but maybe it was pickedup by a werfer collector. On the other hand, did you checkout the 700 pounds somone dropped on the Soldbuch doc with medal group to an enlistedman who earned the EKI and EKII on the same day, along with the medals. Nice group, but treat the old "comes with the veterans medals" ect story lines with a certain amount of skepticisim. Too many collectors appear willing to continue buying such groups with little or no provenance.

Agree it was not cheap Gary ... but then find a 400 Euro officers book with German Cross in Gold entry ..

True...but then Detlev did sell a DKiG other ranks WP for £320. Personally I think OR DKiG WPs are more desirable. I can only imagine it was priced that high because of the Werfer units. I was just curious if there was something special about it.

I received two EK1 winner officers WPs this week and didn't pay over 125 Euros for either...so I won't be paying 400 Euros for any EK1 WPs anytime soon.

It's a personal choise , I like both OR & Off.. if they saw action !! In this case Bartsch was in 1939 Schützen , fast promoted to Lt and later Captain and very well decorated ...and a exotic unit as Nebelwerfer.

On prices ..it's a long discussion , we all found sometimes cheap books , even with high awards But I saw also some paying very high prices


Here is a proud Bartsch ( soldbuch ) and his award doc for Iron Cross first class , signed by SS Oberstgruppenführer Paul Hausser.

Bartsch received this award after engagements , attached to the SS Panzer Korps at Kursk .
