    Fuehrer Geschenk?

I've seen this in some soldbuchs, and I'm wondering what would the gift consist of? On what particular reason it was sent?

For one thing I think it would have contained one of these Lebensmittelkarte (Ration Cards). However, this particular example is not a present from Hitler but from Churchill. It is a British forgery produced by the Political Warfare Executive and dropped by the RAF over Germany. Appartently the coupons could also be used by soldier's relatives, i.e. practically anyone.

      Hello Strider,

Niffty item you have there. I have never seen an Allied copy before. Due to rationing such cards were extremely popular with both the servicemen's family at home and relatives.

      Regards

It's one of a variety of ration coupons and documents forged by the British and dropped by air. In 1944 envelopes with complete sets of desertion documents were dropped which included ration coupons, travel warrants pre-rubberstamped and with a signature, and a leaflet explaining how to fill-in and use the documents.

Here's one of the fake Kriegsurlaubsschein, all ready to be fill-in by the finder:
