If I may...any chance that entry was for SS-Pz. Rgt. 1 LSSAH and the '2' was added in at a later date? A post-facto change to reflect his new unit. The '2' on the date line above is written in a different style, which would indicate perhaps a different hand writing those...

The signature on Page 22 is that of Wilhelm Ratscko (Born: 27 Jan 1914) who is listed as Chef WerkstKp./SS-Pz.Rgt1 in December 1944.

The signature for the PAB entry could be that of Dr Otto Ertel (Born: 26 Jan 1901 // KIA 22 Apr 1945 at Grabenwegdörfl). He is listed in the Führerliste as being with II/SS-Pz.Rgt 1 in April 1945 and with SS-Pz.AuE.Rgt in Januray 1945 but the dates are close enough that it could be him - however his rank is listed as SS-Ustuf. which casts some doubts. But there are some other 'Ertel's in the list but none with a link to LSSAH at that time. The only other name that I could find in the list looking like that signature and belonging to a SS-Pz.Rgt with a '1' in the title was Leopold Ertl but he was with SS-Pz.Rgt 10.

Hi Barry,

What is also interesting is that this is a 20 year old being transferred from the LAH, not exactly the norm. The cadre for the 12.SS was mostly Offz. and experienced NCO's, with the remaining 15,000 Männer coming from the ranks of the HJ (Class of 1926). An interesting entry all around.
