Here i want to show for research a nice and early Kriegsmarine Navy Set. This Guy have Service in Navy from 1935 to 1943 !

First Missions as Oberheizer with Battleship "DEUTSCHLAND" at the Spanish War. I think he have all missions with this Heavy Ship. Some pictures comes with the Wehrpass - i think they are show the KIA comrades from a Aircraft Attack to Battleship Deutschland in 1937 at Island IBIZA !

Back in Germany From Spain Campain and Decoraded with Spanish CRoss in Bronce - this Guy have service at Minesweeper and Patrolboat "ELBE" in the Norway Campain and earned the Minesweeper Badge.

After this the Guy served to the U-Boat Wepaons - after School and Training he killed in Action at the first front patrol of U 635 with Commander Eckelmann !

After research about his Family with the International Red Cross, his UBoat was missed after April 1943, and its possible he survived as POW - his Family know 100% he dont go as POW - so the U-Boat Command Write the FAmily his Boat was a Total-Lost ! After this his family got his U-Boat Badge and a doc.

Now - who know more about his Time with BAttleship Germany in the Spanish Campain ? I think at Ibiza 47 Sailors lost her lives...or ?

Copied from Axis History Forum -

On May 29, 1937 two bombers Tupolev SB-2, flown by Soviet crews, attacked the German battleship "Deutschland" by mistake. Twelve bombs were dropped with two of them hitting the ship. One went through the foredeck into the seaman's mess and the other hit the ships side causing little damage. The bomb which exploded in the seaman's mess caused a fire with 23 crew members being killed, 19 seriously injured and 64 slightly wounded. The final death toll amounted to 31 German sailors.

                Cheers

An interesting aside from the bombing of Deutschland was that she put in to Gibraltar for medical help and to bury some of the dead (which were then exhumed on Hitler's orders and returned to Germany) which resulted in some British personnel on The Rock being awarded German Red Cross awards.
