SS Soldbuch GvB - Normandy veteran!

    SS Soldbuch GvB - Normandy veteran!

    Hi,
    Just got nice salty SS Soldbuch from a SS Rottenführer

    He was trained at the SS Sanitäts Ausbildung und ersatz batl. in Stettin in 1943-1944 before transfered to the 2. Komp. SS San. Abt. 17 GvB in March 1944.

    He served with the GvB from March 1944 till May 1945 wenn he became POW and ended up in the Dachau POW camp!

    No awards entires.

    Though, unfortunately, two pages are missing (13/14 and 19/20) and the book is quite wortn, I still thinks it's a nice combat medic soldbuch from a from a very desirable SS unit!

              Ostubaf PRIESS

              Stabsarzt / Ostuf MEIDER (Chef 2./San.17 Normandie)

              Ustuf RUDOLFF

              Those who I can not see Signatures in yr Book : Dr. HAUK (Chef 2/San 17 Lorraine). Assistant from Meider was Ustuf Lippert.

              2./17 had approx a Strenght from 100. Most vehicles d.2./ in early Normandie were french Civilian cars "umgebaut als Behelfs-Sankas". In Normandie they got 2 or 3 captured Dodge... In Okt.44, they get "neuen Steyr (luftgek.) Gelände Sankas in Russlandausführung".

                  Some additional infos on his ancestry :
                  He was born in Groß-Kikinda, close to the Serbia-Hungary border :

                  The entry "Beurlaubungen über 5 Tage" says, that he was granted a two weeks leave because of a decease (Sterbefall) :
                  "Vom 17.7. - 30.7.44 to Scharlevile (B.. Serbien)
                  Sonderurlaub (Sterbefall)

                  His hometown (in German : Scharleville) is called today : Banatsko Velike Selo :

                  That points to the death of a close ralative and that he belonged to the group of Banat-Schwaben,
                  German-Franconian settlers, who came into the region in the 18th century.
