    Interesting 1945 Documentary

Interesting 1945 post-war documentary on the rebuilding of Western Germany in the British Zone of Occupation. For the passbook collectors check out the screening sequence at 14:30 of former German POW's.

Very interesting movie, never seen an original soldbuch (close) like that on film/photo
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

Rick, that was a first for me as well. There are the one off still photos showing Allied soldiers leafing through a passbook, but nothing I am aware of shown in similar detail in moving film.

Also lots of other stuff in the film for those interested in uniforms. I think that alot of the filming was done in the Hamburg area. Check out the earlier scene at 11:00 of the two Police officers. One of them is wearing the rare white top cap associated with the traffic Police. The other his shako still complete with Police cap eagle.

In Norway at least troops were required to have both their SB and WP when being processed for outward shipping from the country.

some of those Germans involved in working for the allies and carrying out the screenings, like the unteroffizier seen in the film were also promoted in connection with their job.
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

Also in Italy the german soldiers (many thousands) who worked for the Allies continued to use their Soldbuch (or Wehrpass) ... here for an example of a Feldwebel Wehrpass of a battalion of railway work, and his new Pionier Bau Btl. noted in Wehrpass ......
