    Help with luftwaffe soldbuch

    Hello everybody

I need some help with some stamps in my luftwaffe soldbuch, because they really difficult. First I'm sorry for my bad english.

I got a couple of things I just don't understand, but maybe you guys see some other things which are also weird!

First: The soldbuch opens at 13.02.41, while at page 19 (kriegsgebührnisse) there is a stamp from FAR 31 with the date 01.02.41 next to it.

Second: Till 15.07.41 he served with Luftwaffe Landesschutzen zug 17/II, after that he went to a unit with FPnumber: L08963 --> 3. FAR 31, after that he served with a unit with FPnumber: L38737 --> 8. FAR 31 (till 07.09.1942, after that this FP number was gestrichen).

BUT, at 05.06.41 he was hospitalised under FAR 31, while he was (according to his soldbuch) still serving in Luftwaffe Landesschutzen zug 17/II.

BUT at 01.03.42 he was promoted to Gefreiter in Landesschutzen zug 17/II, while (according his soldbuch) he was serving in 8. FAR 31

According to his soldbuch Beurlaubungen he was part of L44284 (LW Ldsch zug 17/II) at 18.05.41, he was part of L08963 (3. FAR 31) at 28.09.41(after his transfer to L38737).

So I think that this man was hospitalised while with LW Ldsch zug 17/II and was transfered to FAR 31 while being in hospital, he was transfered from the 3th kompanie to the 8th kompanie on 01.09.41. Between 01.09.41 and 01.03.42 het was transfered back to his old unit, LW Ldsch zug 17/II but no-one ever changed that in his soldbuch, because he had served in this unit before.

What do you guys think? I'm not a expert, so I love to hear your opinions!
    Thanks!

This man also received the Führergeschenk at 14.03.44, the Führerpakket at 23.03.44 AND received a Sonderurlaub at 23.03.44 which was 3 weeks long. Does somebody know if this is a coincedent or not?

He also received al kind of extra equiptment while serving Baubatl 109/XI (KGF), like a tarnbluse, tarnhose, pelzmütze, filzstiefel, leibbinde, regenumhang and a zwiebachbeutel. But he was not in active combat, why would they give his so many extras while he just had to observe Kriegsgefangenen?

Luftwaffe Landesschutzen zugs provided security to airfields, bases, and other Luftwaffe related things, and I really really doubt there is much info on them or where they were. My guess is that Landesschutzen zug 17/II was providing security detail of some sort to where Flieger-Ausbildungs-Regiment 31 was stationed, so the units where very intertwined, yet still their own entity to a degree, but they shared a lot of resources and such (Lazaretts for example). That's why you see the 2 units used as almost the same thing.

It is very common to see a sonderurlaub coincide with a führergeschenk, which was just a packet of extra rations of cigarettes and candy ect... Kind of like a gift for their vacation and trip home.

The LW Baubatl was a construction unit, so they may have got extra gear depending on what they were doing or building. It is almost impossible to know the reasons why... Very obscure and somewhat mundane units.

You will come to see in owning and researching these books that there are a lot of things the soldbuch has to offer that you'll never be able to make sense of. Maybe the pay scale page was pre-dated to when he was drafted and got his rank, yet a soldbuch was not opened on that day? Various units marked things differently and there is not necessarily a uniform set way to mark certain things.
