Recognising SS Lazarett?

Gents,

I've been pondering over this for a while but not getting anywhere....maybe someone will be able to decipher it or see it straight away.

I'm trying to work out the SS Lazarett that this guy was transferred to. He never made it but curious as to where it could be. Looks like it could end *bach and could be in Germany? The Soldbuch owner was Croatian but at that stage of the war probably better off in Germany!?!?!

He was fighting in Croatia and his previous Hospitals were Hauptverbandsplätz Fiume (now Rijeka, Croatia) and Ortslazarett Postumia (Postojna, Slovenia).

To me, it looks like "Humbach". There was a small town named Humbach in Bavaria, now part of Dietramszell. I have no idea if there was a SS Lazarett located there.

Thanks very much T.K. that is it.....Laibach being the German name for Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Initially when I received this Soldbuch I thought it was odd that the Kroatische Ausbildungs Brigade was not in Stockerau, however in 1944 this was the placement:

I.-IV. Ausb.Btl. (I., II. In Stockerau, III in Hollabrunn, IV. Offz.u.Uffz. Schule Neusiedl am See) and Art.Ausb.Abt. in Stockerau.

As you can see, he belonged to 9 and 10 Kp. which was III. Btl. and therefore stationed in Hollabrunn,

From June 1944 he served with Feldersatz Bataillon 392 (Kroat.), then November to Stabskp., Grenadier Regiment 846 (Kroat.), both belonging to 392 Infanterie Division (Kroat.).

Slovenia (and Dalmatia) are always complicated by the names, the Germans write them according to the old Austro-Hungarian name, Croats call them a little German and a little in Slavic, and the Italians continue to write in their (our) language ..

I do not know much about the unit, it was part of 392 Infanterie Division (Kroatische) which was stationed in and around Bihać at the time.

He was wounded by grenade/mine splinters and on 11.2.1945 was treated at Hauptverbandsplätze Fiume. From there he was transferred to Ortslazarett Postumia on 21.2.1945 and again on 6.3.1945 to SS Lazarett Leibach.

There are no further entries after 6.3.1945.

End of april 1945 remains of the 392 were retreating following the path Zaule Delnice-Jelenje-Clana-Ruppa-Trieste, so they were around Fiume just before the end of the war.
