    Sturm-Panzer-Kraftwagen-Abteilung 1

Not TR but I know you can help me.

I acquired a Militaerpass of a Guard Grenadier. Now, before I got it I only saw the scan of the cover and one open page. Nice book I thought and bought it for a very cheap price. When I got it I could barley believe my eyes when I discovered that, not only did the man train as flamethrower, but he volunteered on one of the earliest occasions to the newly created assault tank detachments.
I looked hard at the signature of the Leutnant that signed this page and I can only come up with one name that comes close, his name is Ernst Volckheim. I know signatures are tricky and the only way to positively confirm one is by comparing to a known original example.

Since Volckheim was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Wehrmacht was wondering if anyone of you Gentlemen has a document signed by Volckheim.

Here is more on this Militaerpass: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/59...-and-a-tanker/

    Thank you

Well, where does one begin with this one. You were surprised? How about unbelievable for a start.

Just a terrific late-war Militarpaß! First one I have ever seen and congrats.

I can't identify it myself, but don't believe the Leutnant signature to be Volckheim.

        Thank you Jerry!

@ Tim de Craene: Thanks Tim, a member of another forum identified the signature as that of Leutnant Holtsträter.

        Here is what he wrote:

Page 12-13; the person signing as CO of Abt. 1 is Leutnant Holtsträter; when the unit moved into the field in January 1918, CO position had changed to Saxon Oberleutnant Seifert, but Holtsträter was still around until January 29th, when he was transferred to Commander Motor Transport Troops 5th German Army (KdK 5).

Very interesting document to a battle-hardened veteran

I enjoyed reading your research and the posts on the CMIC thread. Must admit I'm not familiar with that forum, is it worth joining?

I see Holtsträter as well. Great document.
