            Paul,

Nice Soldbuch but I find the 1945 awards highly suspect.

I will, over the next days, spend some time studying it and get back to you.

On February 07, 1945 he was with 3./I.Art.Rgt.320 of the 320. Volksgrenadier-Division when he was wounded near Waldkarpaten.
Unteroffizier Russ was wounded by shrapnel on his right leg (calf) and right upper arm. He was admitted to a field hospital where he remained until February 16 then he was transferred to a Reserve hospital in Linz where he stayed until March 29, 1945

He would appear to have been with leicht Feld Haubitzer Batterie, Wehrkreis Unterführer Lehrgang VIII in November 1944.

If the entry is correct 7.II.1945 then he was with with I Abteilung, Artillerie Regiment 320 at the time of his wound. It is signed off by an Assitanz Arzt.

The last field unit on page 4 is 3/I/Art.Rgt. 320 (FP Nr. 15392 D, written on page one!) and the last replacement unit from 1945 (due to St.R.Nr.) is Genesenden Batterie, Art.Ersatz u. Ausbildung Abt. 96 in Wels, Wehrkreis XVII.

The awards which you mention are signed of by a Hauptmann and Oberleutnant as Kompanie Chef......seeing as he is Artillerie I would have expected it to be Batterie Chef!

                  /Ian

The 1940 RAD award is good - it makes sense since his occupation in 1940 is given as "Fuhrer im RAD".
The wounded entry on the same page is good as well.

However, what I have encircled is in my opinion bogus

Also his previous unit is written on page 1 also.....not uncommon when entering hospital! Also on occassion the wound is written on page 1 also.

                      FP Nr. 23141 - Kolonne, Infanterie-Regiment 318.

I have seen this before somewhere but for the life of me, can not remember where!

I have to go along with Naxos about the awards.
