    Wehrpass-Super MAX show find

    Hello,

i made a great find at the MAX show over the weekend,i was able to get 22 wehrpass from the 46 I.D,most were from A.R 114 but also there were some from the divisons Pz jager unit, most had served with other units prior to serving in the 46 i.D,the person i bought these from kept 2 one from a man who had fought in Stalingrad prior to transfereing the the 46 I.D and one for a man who fought in a battle he was interested in while serving in a unit prior to the 46 I.D,he sold me the other 22,how often are that many wehrpass to men in the same units found?i have never seen that many wehrpass to one division/Rgt being sold,he told me they came from a eastern european government file that was auctioned.there were several with alot of awards allmost all had the Krim shield and the ostmedaile plus a bunch of EK II's and one EK I and a KVK I,I though it was a neat find,i will be posting a ton of questions i have about entries in these wehrpass

    Gut gemacht Yancy!

Your question, as to how many Wehrpaesse to a single unit; the vendor could be correct he certainly could have been purchased them "over or under the table" from some sort of Government source (perhaps Hungary?). The 46. ID fought in Hungary and Czech Republic at the end of the war. I would be very interested if there is any body that lists anything to the 357. ID like the Gren. Regt. 944, 945 or 946.

    Please post your questions!

Hello, thanks edward !i am very pleased with my find,it made what would have been a not so good sunday at the MAX worth the trip back there.Erich here are my first 2 questions both about entry's in the same wehrpass, one the special training entry (i still have trouble figureing these out even when i can read the writting) the other entry i cant read so i have no idea whats it purpose is.

                The second looks like:
7.10.40: Tag der ersten Belehrung über Geheimhaltung militärischer Dinge und Spionage .........3. Batt. ......../Abt. 114......

That would mean--the day of the first training about the handling of secret military things and espionage.

                          Hello Yancy,
Yes, the other entry indicates that this is a 3rd Wehrpass as the first and 2nd were destroyed through enemy activity.

                              Hello Erich,

that makes some of the entrys make some sense now, there are a few that are 3rd issue wehrpass, they dont have a picture and alot of the entrys are done in the same handwritting and the same ink even though the entrys are for say 1942-1944,also in these third issue wehpass there are no unit/feldpost ink stamps on the award entrys,i thought for a second that the first few wehrpass i looked at had fake awards entrys because they were from different dates and different years but the handwritting and the ink color was the same and some had alot of awards,it wasnt untill i looked through the box and noticed they all were from the same unit and all had similar award entrys (allmost all had the ostmadaile, krimshield,KVK II with swords)the first issue ones had of course had pictures and award entrys with unit/feldpost stamps and different handwritting and ink,BTW it was on sunday when i talked to you and craig that i was in the middle of looking these over and working on the deal!this guy had some nice stuff for sale,im not sure if you knew him before the show,he is not a dealer/collector that i had ever heard of before,a nice guy though and more than willing to work with me on a last minute the MAX is allmost over deal!thanks stijn david for the help with the training entrys, that one for RSO i had no idea about untill a forum member from austria PMed me about this entry and provided me with some very neat pictures of this vehicle.you learn something new everyday
