Picked up this Soldbuch to Uffizier Ernst Temper, a pretty interesting one though it's in a rough condition. The portrait photo has been removed. All pages are still present, but they were put together in a wrong sequence when the Soldbuch was stapled again, a long time ago.
Temper saw a lot of action with the 206. Infanterie-Division on the Eastern Front. In September 1941, he was awarded the Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen for the fighting around Welikije-Luki. After his first wound late March 1942 while his regiment was fighting with the SS Division Das Reich on the Rzhew front, the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz and the Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse followed.
He saw further action late 1942 and early 1943 with his unit on the Rzhew front, until he was hospitalized with freezing wounds at the end of February 1943. While in hospital in Marienbad, Temper was awarded with the Panzervernichtungsabzeichen for the single-handed destruction of a Russian tank. Fighting continued in the second half of 1943 with Grenadier-Regiment 117 of the 111. Infanterie-Division, fighting in the area of Nikopol, on the southern sector of the Eastern Front. In November 1943, he broke his leg. This meant the end of his front career; once released from hospital, Temper was moved to the backward Landesschützen-Bataillon 870 in Pöchlarn, Austria, guarding POW's until the end of the war.
The Panzervernichtungsabzeichen is a 100% unquestionable, the stamp for the Marienbad Reservelazarett matches his hospital stays. The EKI and silver Nahkampfspange are a bit harder to judge as they have not been signed off... EKI could have been awarded with one of his higher awards, but the writing is terrible. Nahkampfspange seems to have more than 1 spelling mistake, but would a faker with such an authentic handwriting make such stupid mistakes? Appreciate your opinions!
