    New Stalingrad Wehrpass

I just found this interesting Wehrpass.

Obergefreiter Hans Juhe from the old, very historical city of Quedlinburg in Sachsen-Anhalt.

Juhe served with Infanterie, later grenadier Regimnent 518 of the 295. Infanterie Division in France and eventually in Russia.

And later with the few survivors, those who were flown out or with replacement units in Germany, rebuilt the divison in Norway.

Two entries have been crossed out:

    Battailon Weiß B-Kp 295. ID

    and

    Stab I./ Grenadier Regiment 518

Does anyone know anything about Btl Weiß? (The was a Stabfeldwebel Adolf Weiß Stab III.Btl./IR 518)

Juhe was treated for frostbite on his toes on 15.1.42n and was then sent to the Infanterie Ersatz Btl 211 to recover was considered Kreigsverwendungsfähig agaon on 21.10.42 as his division stood in front of Stalingrad.

He also was awarded the Infanterie Sturmabzeichen on 1.4.1942.

All the battles of the 295. ID are listed in his Wehrpass up until his frostbite on 15.1.42. Then a certain section was ripped out (Stalingrad?).

Before the battle directly in Stalingrad, he was posted to a March Kompanie 295....did he make it into Stalingrad before the city was encircled???

And later - April 1943, he was posted to the new 295. ID which was being rebuilt in Norway...

The is a gap of 1 year and three months in his combat record (Mitgemachte Gefechte) which might have listed his days in Stalingrad? But there is also no mention of him being flown out or for that matter making it back into Stalingrad after his frostbite treatment.

In Norway, as part of the 14. (Panzer Zerstörung Kp) of GR 518, Juhe was trained in tank destruction and also the placement of anti tank mines.
