    Volkssturm Soldbuch

My newest addition, unfortunately another one without any awards in it.
But it might have seen some action, it has some blood on the cover.

Volkssturm soldbuch to Benjamin Müller, born on 3 september 1899.
Issued by Volkssturm-Bataillon Seeber on 12 february 1945.
But he allready had equipment on the 5th of january 1945.
His EKM says Volkssturm-Bataillon 1/332. No idea if this is the same unit?
    (Gau 1, Baden).
His EKM and Soldbuch number are the same, which might indicate that it was issued together.. by the same unit?

VS-bataillon 1/332 was most-likely deployed at the Schwarwald, or near it.
Benjamin was captured by French troops.

I got some questions, maybe someone can help?

    1. Can anyone read the French writing on page 5 ?
    2. Does anyone have any info to VS-Bataillon 1/332 or VS-Bataillon Seeber ?
    3. Any info to Gau 1 (Baden) Volkssturm units?
    4. Can someone read the name of the kompanieführer who signed the soldbuch on page 2 and 12 ? Kassel? Hassel?
    5. Does anyone know if VS-Bataillon 1/332 is the same as VS-Bataillon Seeber?

I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

Unusual to see a bayonet issued. I collect VS Soldbuchs only if they show equipment (especially rifles) issued (which most of them don't) and this is the first time I've seen a bayonet listed. Rifles are occasionally listed and pistols seldom.

Do you own a VS Soldbuch with award or promotion entries?

                Hi,
can it be that your soldbuch ist missing the pages 13 and 14? These pages list his adresses in case he moved his home adress.
Maybe they were lost when the first page (not page1) was ripped?
                Cheers

                    Hi,

Very nice VS Soldbuch with quite a few entries!
I have not looked for these, but own one which came in a grouping from a family from Hamburg.
In the group was his Wehrpass (WW1 veteran) with his photograph removed, his VS Soldbuch (again photo removed) and several DAF documents, letters from previous employers, ration cards etc.
The VS Soldbuch had entries of a personal nature only, no kit was issued apart from a VS armband which was with the grouping.
Would like to know the cost of these VS Soldbuchs, as I have not seen any on dealers websites for several years now.
Would like to know where I could possibly source a few more?

                    Very best wishes,

                    John

                        The last thing after "Gasplane" I read " H. (?) Entgiften "

                          You are right...

It says " H.Entgiftungs mittel".... That is Hautentgiftungsmittel....

He got either a bottle of anti-gas ointment or a box of anti-gas pills...

Most likely he got Hautentgiftungsmittel 41,which is Detoxificiation Oienment 41..

Book "Der Volkssturm" by K.Mammach, page 94:

It says that in Gau Baden in febuar 45 ,the VS battalions was not all numbered in officiel arab numbers, some VS was give names of citys and local mountains...

So the name "Seeber" makes more sence as a name of a place, and not the name of the commander...I think it would be a bit much to make stamps bearing the commanders name,as he could easy be replaced or even killed..

But perhaps I am mistaken, there seems to be no place called Seeber in Baden,Germany...
