    What was the Wartheland Befestigung?

the man got no badges awarded an the badge 1 and 2 is missing..

    Hello Buckeru!

Very interesting Wehrpass! The Nibelungenwerk in St. Valentin, Austria, produced more than half of all Panzer IV ever built. They also modified "Porsche-Tigers" to "Elefants" (Jagdpanzer). By the end of 1944 they started producing "Jagdtiger" there.

As it was an armament factory with almost 5.000 workers and most of them were forced labourers, they had to have a Werkskommando which was in command.

"Wartheland Befestigung" was called the work predominantly done by Volkssturm personnel starting in fall of 1944. It was nothing else than the absurd attempt finishing the never completed Westwall by digging ditches and piling up walls.

They'd sort of be the overseers, guards so to speak, to ensure work was carried out in the "proper" manner. Enforce discipline, keep the forced laborers in check, etc.
