Post your favorite acquisitions of 2012

Well, another year is almost over and with 2013 just around the corner I thought it would be fun to start a thread for us to showcase some of the highlights / favorite items obtained for our collections in 2012.

Anyone care to kick it off?

George Nipe describes the Panthers deployment at Kursk and this particular day in "Blood,Steel & Myth" (Excellent)

Here is one of my favorite ID's for the year, the Wehrpaß for Gefreiter Leonhard Popp, a grenadier in the 21. Panzer Division. Popp was killed outside of Caen on 3 July 1944, just ten days shy of his 20th birthday. He is buried at La Cambe in Normandy.

                Regards,
                John

From the Eastern Front...I enjoy collecting Operation Barbarossa/Typhoon items, especially for the units in Panzergruppe 2 under Guderian. Here is the Wehrpaß for Leutnant Oswald Mäuderer, KIA at Jefremov on 22.11.41.

He served in IR 41 of the 10. Inf Div. (Mot.) as part of Panzergruppe 2.

                    Regards,
                    John

As Guderian's Panzergruppe 2 sliced through the Soviet Union in 1941, achieving the Wehrmacht's most stunning victories, one can see the names of these important battles - Bialystok, Minsk, Smolensk, Kiev, Vyazma, and Bryansk.

Great additions guys, and thanks for sharing them!

Well, 2012 was a milestone year for me. Most importantly my wife and I celebrated the birth of our first child - our beautiful daughter. She is an absolute blessing and the best thing thing to have ever happened to us Here's a picture of her a few weeks ago when we went to cut down her first Christmas tree

On the collecting front, 2012 was an outstanding year with many additions to the collection. One of the several highlights was of course finally being able to add the Michael Wieland Soldbuch and Führerschein to my collection; thanks again to my good friend Henner for offering me the first right of refusal on this outstanding little set Here's a shot of the Soldbuch, and a link to the thread where the set has been showcased and discussed in detail:
