How Do You Price Out Document Groupings?

Bear with me on the "what if" here. I am inexperienced in this area of collecting and I only have a few documents, but before I go buy more I need to learn a bit.

Say, a common Soldbuch from a soldier is worth $50 and his Wehrpass is worth $50 just by themselves. If one finds them together, how much more, if any are they worth as a group?

I know this is very subjective. But, do you price out each item in a grouping individually, then add together to assess value of something? Or....is there a synergy that occurs among some documents to make them worth more collectively?

To me, it seems an award document grouping to one soldier could be priced out individually, but because Soldbuch/Wehrpass grouping is less common it would be worth more as a grouping.

How do you all do it? Any help in this area is appreciated.

IMO, it really depends on the set. If it's a not very interesting set, and each booklet is worth ~$50.00, it'll be tough to get more than $100-125 for the set. On the other hand, if there's something special--e.g. decent decorations; interesting unit; early, well filled out pages, etc. -- then you can add the two together and add an extra percentage for the set.
