Kennkarte

Hello folks... Perhaps I am in the wrong section but I did see where others posted their Kennkarte and were told this is the right place. Please let me know if I need to post in the photo/paper items.

I normally collect Third Reich Medals but recently got into some of the documentation.

I have these two Kennkarte's. It appears they are Gray and from what I read that means Polish? It appears these are simply identification.

Any info you can related to me I would appreciate.

These are the standard Kennkarte for Germans. If it was for a Pole, it would have a red stripe diagonally through the cover and in side under Bemerken it usually would read "Schutzanhörigen- Polnischen Vlokstumms"

So basically this would be issued to every German citizen as a form of ID. ?

Yep, pretty much so. There were variations for Jews, and couple others, but those are kind of scarce to find.
