Blood-soaked SS Soldbuch, KIA in Breslau

Over the next few months, I am going to be selling about 100 Soldbuecher and Wehrpaesse. I decided to post them for review here before I list them on the e-stand. Here is an interesting Soldbuch for an SS-Schuetze who served with Regiment Deutsch-Lissa and Regiment Breslau "D", both of which were based in Breslau, whicj Hitler declared as a Festungsstadt (Fortress City). Thousands of soldiers and civilians were killed during the Russian assault against Breslau in 1945, including SS-Schuetze Edwin Otto, who was killed on 15 March 1945. Notice that the back cover of the Soldbuch is blood-soaked.

Soldbuch wasn't opened until December 1944... I wonder what he was doing for the first five years of the war.

The Soldbuch owner was a farmer , and farming was one of "war effort" areas. Probably that's why he was recruited only at the end of the war...

Great piece of history. There is a super interesting book written by the dutch volunteer Hendrik Verton who served in the same unit while defending the city - "In The Fire Of The Eastern Front".

I love the new INFO this Soldbuch supplies.
The ersatztruppen unit for some of "RGT BRESLAU D" was SS-IG-Ausbildungs-Abteilung 2 at Hoyerswerda in 1945.

And do I see correctly that 8th Company of "Regiment-Breslau D" had become part of the 10th battalion?

Wish I had this in my collection because it's awesome!
