    Gestapo Erkennungsmarke???

    Hi. I have half of a Gestapo dog tag marked '6', 'GEH. STA. POLIZEI DANZIG'. The 64 Dollar question is, did the Gestapo have dog tags. I know they had Warrant Discs but I have never heard of a dog tag. John.

    Never heard of that.

    Seems odd that a secret organisation would have an ID that spelled out the owners exact origin?

    Given in comparrison, the luftwaffe air crew had the numbers only system to protect operational security?

    I would think not but as I am definatley no expert I would wait for a more informed opinion.

    A picture of the item might help the others decide?

        Gestapo dogtag.

        Hi. Thanks for the two replies. I did not think that Agents had a dogtag but what about other personal in the department? Why would someone fake an item that didn't exist in the first place? Anyone interested can email finnwiking@aol.com and I will email a photo back. John.

            those Danzig tags appeared on Manions 10 years ago or so,,and were fantasy.
