Sorry, but this is not a 10 000 USD question. I will answer it for free - it's a poor man's fake.

BTW Fronti - do you know the exact inscription on Leon's dog tag?
Guess it must have been Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 477 tag? Or am I wrong?
          All best

            Hello Al

Could also be from Infanterie Bataillon 373.

If I read it right, than his first dogtag is from JB 373. Later on he got a second one with dogtag number 2048 followed by Frw. I can`t read it, but it seemed to be from Frw. Sturmbrigade.

            BTW:
I have two nice Alu dogtags from Infanterie Bataillon 373 in my collection. Both are from 2nd coy.
2nd coys commanders are Hauptmann Willy Heyvaert, than Leutnant Joseph Daulne, after that Leutnant Jean Vermeire.

One of these dogtags is a grounddug of on of it`s last positions of wallonie in germany at the end of the war. That means, that the owner of that dogtag must be an old warrior from old wallonian times in the army. (before june 1943)
This dogtags must have seen heavy fights in russia and Pomerania !!!

            Best regards, Fronti

That's strange because his file says:
08.08.1941 Freiwillige Meldung zur Wehrmacht/ Eintritt ins Infanterie Regiment 477 zur infanteristischen Ausbildung, dann ins Wallonische Inf.Batl.373.
Can you send me or post here some scans?
              Regards
              Al

                  Fake for sure

                  1889.. wasn´t that Hitler´s birth-year?
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.
