    Chetnik Personalausweis

The Serbian Chetniks fought both against and for the Germans. This ID is from the Nisch Bataillon and issued to a Chetnik Vojvoda (General). The ID is signed by both Duke Radomir Ratanjac and the main leader of the Chetniks fighting with the Germans Duke Kosta Pecanac. The Germans discovered this army of 8000 was inefficient and unreliable and in March of 1943 it as disbanded. Pecanac was interned and executed in June 1944 by the Chetniks of Draza Mihailovic who was allied with the communist partisans.

Incredible! I sure hope you are planning on publishing a book with all of these terrific examples that you have. I spent the morning reviewing many of your previous post and am simply in total awe of your collection.

Thanks Jeff and Mark! Publishers seem to have little interest in paper but I do intend to keep trying.

And me as well. An extremely interesting ID with amazing history behind it - to say the very least.

            Love that Totenkopf logo!
