    Freikorps

    Rather a naive question, I suppose, but I need some information on the Freikorps. I have a type I Wehrpass where the guy's only active service (page 12) is listed as Freikorps 1917-1919, with some handwriting I haven't translated yet. Some internet research gives me the dates of 1918-1923 for the Freikorps. Will someone briefly tell me about the Freikorps, and why this guy was in it in 1917 instead of being in the army ??

    There weren't any Freikorps until after the Armistice.

    Post pix and all should be clarified.
