Soldbuch to Kurt Anders, Sergeant Military Police ( "Feldgendarmerie").

He served till May 42 with Feldgend.Trupp (mot.)2, the M.P. unit of the 2.Inf.Div.(mot), Sept.39 active in Poland and May-June 40 in France ( a.o. Somme, Loire ) after which the Div. returned to Germany.
Sept.-Nov.40 the unit was based in Poland but returned to Germany to be reorganized Oct.40 as Armoured Div. and renamed 12.Pz.Div.
After training in Germany, the unit was July 41 sent to Russia ( a.o. Minsk, Smolensk, Leningrad, Tichwin, Estonia, Wolchow, Ladoga ).
May 42 he was transferred to Feldgend.Abt.(mot.)696, an independent unit, operating 1942-43 in Russia ( attached to the 2nd Army ), 1944 in Greece and 1945 in Croatia ( Army Group "E" ).
His unit was involved in many anti-partisan actions and Anders must have taken part in quite a few as the Anti-Partisan Warfare Badge in Silver was awarded to him 20-4-45 for which a total of at least 75 combat days against partisans were required !.
M.P. units that were involved in anti-partisan actions were very notorious because of the many atrocities against innocent civilians the personnel comitted during these actions.
