Wehrpass with sniper entry

I picked this up yesterday of a Gebirgsjäger in Rgt 99 and 98 with a rare "Scharfschutzenlehrgang" (sniper) entry

he spent 2 years in the RAD and then entered service with Gebirgsjäger Ersatz Batl. 99 on 19 May, 1943

weapons training to include the rifle-grenade launcher and on page 21 the sniper course in Le Valdahon from 29 October through 18 November, 1943

promotion to Gefreiter

front service with 14 th Panzer Korps on the southern portion of the eastern front

killed in action on 9 April, 1944

a copy of his company commanders letter to the family explaining where killed.

document from the unit listing his personal belongings which were sent back to the family. The group also consists of some Feldpost and other correspondence.

The Sniper training entry is indeed an unquestionable period entry.

There is no connection with GJR 98 or 99. Res.Geb.Jäger.Btl.99 and Res.Geb.Jäger Btl. II./98 were seperate units in themselves. Training units that were sent to France (hence the sniper training in that country) as GJ Ers. Btl.99 provided replacements for the 4 Geb.Div. that's why we see the rather strange ad-hoc march company unit designation
