    DV Erkennungsmark

    Hi,

Which bataillon did it belonged to? It there any reference site about DV dog tags?

    Best regards

    Hello

The dogtag belonged to the 9th coy of the Volkssturm-Bataillon 14 of the NSDAP Gau 4 (Danzig-Westpreußen) with command post in Danzig.
16 is the dogtag/personal number. DV means Deutscher Volkssturm and DW means Deutsche Wehrmacht.

Here are some infos for NSDAP Gaue:

And here are some infos about the NSDAP Gau Danzig:

    Best regards, Fronti

      I would strongly disagree.
This tag belonged most probably to Kdtr Stalag IB. Several hundred blanks were recovered years ago and now are used for production of different bizarre fakes - also this one.
So, despite Fronti is very right regarding the unit itself, this tag never had anything to do with Danziger Volkssturm. Actually Volkssturm in Westpreussen used very specific blanks - there was a thread about these some months ago here.
      Regards
      Al

Still I must agree that breaking a whole fake tag into halves can make it even mor convincing
