    Auffangstelle?

Was the role of the Auffangstelle to process the soldier through discharge from the Army?

    Thanks

"Auffangstelle" in the period 1939 - 1945 as collecting or catch point could have had different meanings.

It could have been a military Auffangstelle to collect soldiers to bring them to new units.

Or even such as after the big bomb raids in German cities in "Auffangstellen" people had to assemble to find their relatives or family member, to get some meals or to look for new homes.

Also wounded people (military and civil) have been collected in "Auffangstellen" to be treated by medics.

      Thanks Gerdan.

In this particular case the soldier was discharged beacuse of his wounds. On page 12 of the WP the Auffangstelle was the last but one unit before the army discharge office.

        Dear Jonathan

you are correct - also wounded soldier have been sent through Auffangstellen to be examined and afterwards sent or to a new unit - or in your case - to be discharged.
