Yes very nice group indeed. WP & SB together and complete with many entries and an interesting campaign - what more could we ask for?
And to make it better for me - this guy seemed to live maybe 3 miles from where I live today.
I very much like your set! Thanks a lot for showing it in this thread!

Really special unit that was quite active during campaign in Northern Finland, so quite interesting group for Finnish collector like myself!
I have few award citations for a soldier that belonged to that same unit, but that is all I have found after several years of searching. There is a book about this unit, which I have in my shelf but I am away from home so I can not fill any caps regarding that units history... But I am sure that Simon Orchard will step in soon and give you a lots of info!

Very nice Rob!
As you know I have a Soldbuch and Wehrpaß to 3 Kompanie of the same Battalion.
Although not at home, from my research document for the group I see the battle entries appear to be identical to the one you have.
Over the years I have always kept an eye out for this unit and I only recall seeing 1 other! I do like MG Btl. and Fla Btl.
Although mine is a replacement Soldbuch from 16.7.1945, the Wehrpaß is a particular nice one!!
Will try and post scans later......

Very beautiful group Rob To complete this thread, here is an image of a Wehrpass of my collection. The same unit for a member of the Stabs Kp.
Decoration for Lapplandschild on July 17, 1945 with stamp FP nr 47 329 = Stabs-Kp. M.G. Schi-Brigade Finnland.
Cordial greetings.

I think what I love most about your buchers Rob is that you bring them to life with your research. I'm already on my way.. I've requested information from wasT, and been poking around lexikon, and axis history.
Anyhow, great books and medic to boot!

Well, home now and enjoying a whiskey
Here are a few scans of my MG Btl. 4 group. Unfortunately a replacement Soldbuch from 16.7.1945 but first issue Wehrpaß from 25.4.1936.Attached FilesLast edited by Ian Jewison; 02-12-2010, 07:19 PM.Photos/images copyright © Ian Jewison collection
