    Home Made repo soldbuch/wehrpass

Hi there, i woundering if any of you guy have any fake or repo soldbuch or wehrpass. I have been making my home made solduch with the german gothic font. You Can see some examples of my work at http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=35128
They are some example of my friends work as well. He has made the opening wings of the soldbuch which is about 98% the look of the real one. he also has re-made the font. I have the true type font, i would send you the font if you wanted but would have to check with my mate because it is no (copy right) meaning you would be able to sell the work. i do not sell my work to people.

any way please check out the site

    best regards

    Jon,

I realise your intention is not to deceive or sell your reproductions to other collectors but this type of activity on this forum is despised.

What happens down the track ,if one of your crafted pieces ends up in the hands of an unscroupulous/or unknowledgible dealer? or a collector for the same matter?

Its the same problem when helmet shells get resprayed quite innocently by collectors and years down the road ,you see the same helmets offered as real.

Im sorry but the perfection of fakes for fun by collectors, in the long run, ends up being a damaging piece of purchase for unwitting buyers.

LISTEN I DO NOT SELL MY WORK

No Guys you are wrong i do not sell any of my work! Let me tell you over the last two weeks i have been contructing my own soldbuch. My plan was not to sell my work but contructing my own soldbuch, like they did in P.O.W. camps making fake identy papers to try and escape from germany. i am interest in this sort of stuff. i even have a P.O.Ws fake papers i hope i can get some pictures in, they are very rare items to find. My work is easy to spot that it is fake. I have more than a 1000 veiws on the axis history forum and about 4 of them made there own soldbuch. I have the skill to make my own solduch because i am a art student and some times get to use some of the stuff at collage. making your own soldbuch is not easy at all. try it your self and i bet you well be wanting to ask how i did it.

          Regards

          Jon.

            Hello Jon,

I have sent you a PM.

I saw your work in other threads on Third Reich forum...
I think you have done a marvellous job and the fact it would deceive people would be those that do not know their hobby in the first place!!!

I have seen many "repro" for re-enactors etc. even some guys here make them and the paper, feel etc. is completely wrong to pass as original...

However I did see one for sale on ebay to a famous beer MD, this was made by a friend for him as repro etc. and it made good money simply because the guy selling it knew nothing and the guy who bought it knew even less!!!

The art is trying to get to know your hobby!!!

            /Ian

I agree with Ian completely...the chances of anyone, anywhere making a fake WP\SB from scratch and deceiving anyone are zero. Unless you know absolutely nothing about them i.e. never seen or held a real one.

If it for you alone that ok really cool hobby indeed!. Yea it easy to figure it out if you know what you looking at and know how real looks like! But look at ebay people spent 100s of dollars for things that are so obviously fake! On ebay you could probably sell a Russian medal with red star on it for a rear German spy Ek1 (working in Russia) or some bs like that . Half of people on ebay are num-skulls!

The bottom line is that is relatively hard to fake an entry in an original period book with other original entries (if the buyer has any idea what he's doing). So to produce a fake from scratch is virtually impossible.

I'm sure if John was to produce a perfect copy with perfect entries the time taken to produce it would not be met by the price he'd sell it for on e-bay. Faking a WP\SB from scratch is not quite the same as churning out badges\awards...

                    Jon,

Your intentions may be true and honest but what if you should suddenly pass away. Your items could be auctioned off to the highest bidder and the buyer could quite possibly think it's real. That how things get started and unknowingly passed on to those with less knowledge. I agree with the comment that it should be marked in a way that identifies it as a KOPIE!!! Bill

you got a lot of nerve assuming that this quote applies to me ,just because i gave my opinion on what you do in your spare time...I really don't care about your little "hobby" but it seems that even if you go throught the lenghts that you do to make a fake wehrpass or soldbuch or whatever..then it would seem feasible that you would also try to see if it is real enough looking to try and fool someone by passing it off as "authentic"...so if you can't take criticisim about your "hobby" from real collectors, then keep it to yourself or stay on the "other" forum....

Well you've probably scared him off!!!!
He probably will stay on the other forum as he was made to feel more welcome there instead of having someone piss on his shoes

                              I agree with Richard,
I hate repros of any type.
Im sure they have their place(a garbage bag would be a good start.)

I dont care what the guys intentions are with his pieces of art.I dont have any time for someone who makes fakes and shows me what a great job he,s doing.

I like this forum because of the more "purist feel",it has.I hope it stays that way.
