9 Pz Div SB to Bulge Vet

This man spent his time in the army with the 9th pz division. I think he saw alot of the big battles of the war. He was awarded the wound badge in black on 26-12-44, but nothing is mentioned on pages 12-13 about a wound. Must have been treated in the field. Also interesting is his last home leave has been crossed out.

                      No entries on these pages.
Most of these wp's were send home before the units had the necessary permission and time to add certain battle citations in those wp's.
Remember the wp was an official document needed by the familymembers of the kia soldier to sort out all kinds of paperwork to get financial benefits, inheritence,...etc. Battle of the bulge citations are seldom found in wp's from the units that participated in the battle.

It is interesting that the soldier Fohr was killed during a bomb attack on the town Stadtkyll (near PrĂ¼m/Eifel) the 2 Feb 1945.

The small town Stadtkyll (today about 1500 inhabitants) was heavily bombed the 21 Jan and the 2 Feb 1945.

During these two raids were killed 66 inhabitants and 174 soldiers in the local hospital (including doctors, nurses).

The town was destroyed 75 %

I also have still some books to share

This is a nice SB, belonging to a Feldwebel of Grenadier-Regiment 89, 12 VGD.

The 12 VGD was the best infantry division of Dietrich's 6 Panzer Armee.
(US Army Intelligence attributed it to be the best infantry formation in the 6. Panzer Armee at the time)

He was already quite a veteran:

                              *KVK2

*Demjanskschild (In 1942 it was one of the divisions encircled in the Demyansk Pocket).

*IAB on 7 December 1944 (presumly for the battle for Aachen or Hurtgenwald)
