A nice uniform foto with the EK II, Ostmedaille, KVK 2. Klasse and Dienstauszeichung and late war unform. -
Throughout his service Wegener was awarded the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse, Verweundentenabzeichen (Schwarz), Ostmedaille, EK 2. Klasse, Verwundetenabzeichen (Silber) and interestingly enough for a Zweitschrift, his Schießschnur for 1933-1934 was also listed.Comment

Sometime in late 1944 Wegener was transfered to Grenadier Regiment 1224, (190. ID) , in Holland but before this unit was destroy in the Ruhrkessel, he was sent to his Ausbildung Einheit ( Pz. Gren. Ers. u Ausb. Batl 90) in Hamburg Wandsbek
From Lexikon der Wehrmacht:
on 7. April 1943, both bataillons were merged into the Gren Ers und Ausb. Batl (mot) 90. In September 1944 the Btl was sent to Holland (under the code word "Alarm Küste"). The unit formed the II Btl of Gren Regt 1224 and then ceased to exist.Comment
