Please don't take this the wrong way, but why is "price" so important???

Most collectors, myself included, do not like to discuss "dollar amount" when it comes to collecting. This hobby is not about how much you spend, it's about the material and it's historical significance... Who cares how much someone spent for a Soldbuch, dagger, tunic or helmet.

soon as you give a number, the "famous dealers" will tripple that for anything similar.

bad enough they already price anything nuts, then have a "reduction sale" where it's reduced to only twice what it's actually worth.

I bought my "Charlemagne"/LVF Soldbuch a long time ago and for now a ridiculus price... Now, if I have to sell it, I can just say that it will be a very important price. But of course the unit is not the unique important point inside.

Last two years? How long have you been a contributing member here, and have you actually followed some of the discussions that have taken place in this forum? There have been some really in-depth informative posts, not to mention some incredible Soldbücher, Wehrpässe and Ausweise shared from dozens upon dozens of collections around the globe.

No offense, but do you really expect this thread to top any of those, bring new traffic and spark loads of new discussions? I and some other collectors who've talked about this thread in email or PMs just don't see it really going anywhere... And for reasons already pointed out, discussing "highest prices paid" could very well lead to higher asking prices.

Nobody's suggesting closing the thread and you are of course more than free to discuss whatever you like, but does anyone really see the benefits of having a thread like this?
