An airman who was actually driving...boats

    Hi,
I tought I will share my new buy with you guys.
It's a set of a tag and SB belonging to a LW guy serving perhaps one of strangest LW units I came across - Sonderkommando Siebel/Fähre.

Here's something I have found at M.Holm's website:
Landing(transport flotillas were formed by the Luftwaffe during World War 2, and used mainly Siebel ferries and Infanterie-Transporter, both designs by the Luftwaffe. They were mainly used for transport duties, especially between Sicily and Tunisia.
The Infanterie-Transporter were self-propelled barges mainly built in Holland and Belgium. They could carry about 7 tons or 40 combat troops, and were armed with light MGs. Variants incl. hospital and repair barges.
The Siebel ferry were built at many small yards in Germany, Holland, Belgium and France. They could carry about 60-80 tons, and were armed with light MGs and later a 37mm gun. Many variants were built: AA/Artillery ferries with 88mm guns, hospital ferries and repair ferries.
    Enjoy !

    Al

          Hello,

SB interesting Al. Here is an image of a document of my collection with almost identical registrations (presented at first in the link indicated by Ian but whose image had been erased).

          Cordial greetings.

              Sb

              Very nice thread!!

Ian I recall you mentioning that you had a few SB from these units but never had a chance to view them, just great. The boat trade sleeve patch is nice to have as well don't see those that often, at least not legitimate ones like yours.

Al great stuff thanks for sharing.

                Hi Mr.Dogtag,

Thank you for showing that Soldbuch here on WAF.

I know the area your man served very well, born there and lived there most of my life.

Nice to see material related to that area.

                yours friendly
