    Panzergrenadier convolute!

I would like to share this little convolute with you:

It is from Karl Auer, who started with 4. Kompanie Schützen-Regiment 140, from the 22.Panzerdivision in 1942. Back then he was Obergefreiter. After the Krim Operations in May 1942(Unternehmen Trappenjagd) he got a quick lesson on the Krim, which made him Unteroffiziere. Unlike most from 22.Panzerdivision which went to Rostov in Ukraine he stayed under 'Oberst Michalek' in the Krim.
As known, 'Oberst Michalek' "got" his own division: 27.Panzerdivision. After Karl was transfered to 27.Panzerdivision he got moved to the Woronesch front.
His Regiment was then already changed to 'Panzergrenadier-Regiment 140'.
In Januar 1943, he got changed to the Donez front. In his diary he stated:

"Since the Russians broke through at Stalingrad we have to make sure the Russians can not advance any further."

In Februar 1943, which is also sadly the last entry in his written diary he tells:
"The 27.Panzerdivision consist of very few man, because of that we got transfered to Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 6 of the 7.Panzer-division "

Then between 1943-1945 there isn't written anything in his diary. Luckely there is also a typed diary with it which then goes further in 1945.
He stated that he got wounded in Oktober 1944(Lungdurchschuss und Schulterdurchschuss). (Which was around Memel. The Germans had to endure heavy battles with Russians around Memel in October 1944)
In 1945 after he got out of the hospital he has to go to Kassel where his last 'fighting days' are in the Weinbergbunker in Kassel.

From there on he talks about his captivity.

    Here some interesting pictures:

Here some documents, his diary, a picture of him, taken in Frankreich around 1941 I think. His 'Deutsche Kennkarte' from 1954 after the war.(It was given out by the French and Americans, this one is written in four languages) Under his kennkarte, his 'Berufsbuch' from 1948.

Here is POW-documents: 'saüberingsbescheinigung, entlassungschein and Examination of Prisoner of War...'

    Some more:
