    SS Soldbuch Hundyadi

Can anybody say anything about the originality of the soldbuch now sold at www.snyderstreasures.com .

The reason jm asking is that J at this forum have been offered a soldbuch from the same division, isued at same date , by the same hauptstumführer. Type of soldbuch, stamps , handwriting are all the same. Both are relatively poor of stamps. Picture looks to me as a maybe postwar copy.

J would say that the chance of seeing two such soldbuch issued the same day by the same officer etc. from such an unit is very little.

What do you experts say ????

    Hello Jens,

I do not see any problem with this document, except the too much raised retail price !!

It is necessary to know that a group of document of the Hunyadi was discovered to the end of the 1980's, about 250 documents. It was about documents resulting from several companies of the SS Gren. Rgt. 63. I possess three Soldbuch resulting from this group, 7. and 8. Company. According to a friend collector who has them the chance to buy several dozens, some documents possessed photos with the collar patch H !!

Others collector do they possess resulting documents of the other companies ?

The simultaneity of the date and of this signature
on several documents is perfectly possible. The setting up of the unity with the perception of the Soldbuch happened for the most part of the people of these companies the same day.

You will find an image of the page 2 of the Soldbuch attributed to a man of the 7. company. The date and signature
are identical in the document put up for sale by the Snyderstreasures company.

    Cordial greetings.

Detail of the page 2. A FPnr, little visible on this page appears on most of the documents found in the end of 1980's.

      FPnr 39 933 = 11.12.1944 Stab II u. Einh. Gren. Rgt. 63 (25. SS - Div.)

        Hunyadi Soldbuch

        Hi Polux

Thanks for answer. A member of this forum have a similar soldbuch. J was just concerned about the fact that the issuing officer was the same (Hauptsturmführer Kelecseny (?)) with unclear stamps and that photos from the scans didnt look old. Both soldbuchs also looked relatively new and unused and not aged at all.

Another mystery is why they didnt end up at the personel they were issued to ?

Most worrying of all, is that it looks like that the soldier or Spiess which filled it out, ALSO filled out the " Vor und Zuname, eigenhändige Unterschrift des Inhabers". This also looks to be the fact of the one in your example.

Finally, the SS soldbuchs that J have are all issued by the companycommander

( from 17 SS divison, 20 SS divison and SS-panzergrenadierschule/kampgruppe Schill).

          Hello Jens,

It is necessary just to clarify some information with regard to the documents of 25. SS Division.

Most of the documents are very well preserved (they were found in a box in perfect state).

It is also necessary to clarify that all the documents of the 7. company are signed by the commander of this company, Kelecseny.

The documents of the 8. company are signed by an another officer.

The stamp FPnr is here little visible but is sharply visible on another documents.

As the documents of your collection, the documents of 25. SS-Division are well signed by the commander of company (7./3./25. = the 7. company of the 3. regiment of the 25. division).

Signature of the holder of the above presented document was probably made with the same pen, the same ink, but signature is different, clumsy, of the rest of the registrations of this document.

Does the mystery of the presence of these 250 Soldbuch stay ?? Why were not they in ownership of their holders ? Why they were all collected ?

          Cordial greetings.

                Hello,
I am a new member but I thought somebody might find this interesting.
I bought 10 SS Hundyadi soldbuchs a few years ago all together. Some had pictures and others did not. All ten were from 2 seperate companies but with the same signatures and stamps. I sold all but 2. Most of them appeared to be just kids around 18-19 years old. One of the ones I kept was a kid aged 16! It never had a picture placed in it but has some Hungarian written on the back. I hope to get it translated sometime.

                  hello!

                  Hello Erich, and Eric,and All!

I think these soldbuchs were found in Germany, maybe in the training camp in Germany(I just can't remember the name!!!) where this unit was reequiped, trained, and destroyed at the siege of the camp!!
I don't think the books were found in Hungary!

                  Eric!
I'd be glad to translate the writings on Your books!
                  Any for sale?

                    Hey!

The name of the training camp is Neuhammer!
A lot of hungarian SS units were fighting there in 45, defending the camp, almost all of them were executed!

Maybe the books were somwhere there in a warehouse, or something, or some survivors took it, and hidden it.
                    Who knows?

                        Dear Eric,

Thank you of your information. Would it be possible to see images of your 2 Soldbuchs ? Can you clarify the numbers of the two companies ? I wish to know the way of which you bought your 10 Soldbuch. Beside a trader or beside a collector ? This will allow us maybe to go back up at the origin of this discovery.

                        Dear Fayati,

Thank you of your information. I contacted several persons to know the history of the discovery of this group of documents. I hope to have an answer. The Neuhammer's track is possible but asks to be verified. According to a friend, the group would have been found by a Hungarian, so very probably in Hungary ??

                        Dear Jens,

It would be possible to see images of your Soldbuch 20. SS Division ?

                        Cordial greetings.

                          SS Soldbuch

                          Hello,
Here is the history of how I purchased the soldbuchs. Around 4 years ago I saw one listed on Ebay. I bought it and the seller said he had nine more and I should make him an offer for all of them. All of the soldbuchs were from the 7th and 8th Companies. The 2 soldbuchs I have left are from the 8th Company. Looks like the mustering day was 29 Jan 45 and both books are signed by the same Obersturmfuhrer. I will try to get some scans out soon if I can get my scanner working.

                          Attila,
Appreciate the translation service. I am not so much interested in selling as I would be in trading. If I sell I end up using the money for beer or my wife gets it. I don't collect SS anymore but like sturmartillerie/assault gun wehrpass and soldbuchs. Do you have anything like that?

I just want to add to this thread that recently heard - rather read - /on this forum/ VERY not-good words for Mr. Snyder, seems he has a very bad reputation in regard of originality of his items... Well, these papers may be 100% ok, but be aware.
