      Ian just said it all.

*** It would be nice if (certain) people posting would first express their own opinion(s) on what they are posting, before asking others for their opinion(s).

I though you asked not to post the pictures because the seller was unaware that you were passing them around?

I personally have issues with a few of the entries (for example the "Tarnjacke" entry) but without having it in hand it's too hard to tell.

IMHO the portrait photo is a post-war addition, considering the book was closed out on 12.Jan.1943 well before the order to add photos to Soldbücher was put into effect. Also note the brand new, shiny staples...

From these photos, I would definitely pass. Looks like someone ruined a perfectly good LSSAH Artillerie Regiment Soldbuch

I sure wish certain people had the INTEGRITY to be "Up Front" with regards to their posting motives.

This Soldbuch has been heavily SScrewed with (in various ways) . Just one example - look at the photo. One can easily see that the photo and the staples (which are also in question) clearly do not line up with the indentations on page one (the current photo was / is clearly placed much higher a previous photo which was there).

If anyone else "wants a go" at this, be my (our) guests - I'm not going to waste my time with this peice anymore...

So it was an original one in your opinion?
Hundestaffel told me the SS runes on the cover are well-known reproductions.

To be honest, I did not like it as well: Also got questions by the picture and serveral other things.

Hundestaffel, it is not that I like it, just asking some opinions. You asked me why I didn't post this one in forums. I had to wait untill the seller agreed with it.

If I mis-interpreted something, then I do indeed apologize.

Unfortunately, there have been too many people in the past who have "Played Games" in regards to the reason(s) why they are posting a specific item.

At any rate, this is a Soldbuch to avoid.

*** One last word on that "SS" rune on the cover. This specific "SS" rune is a post-war reproduction. Take a good look at how un-uniform and crooked the runes are. You will find this specific stamp on various SS members Soldbuchs which had Army Cover Soldbuchs, but isn't is somewhat odd that the Soldbuchs you will find them on vary drastically from unit to unit, and location to location ??? How can an LAH man who served in Russia (only) have this exact same stamp on his Soldbuch as did an Buchenwald KL SS Guards (Army Cover) Soldbuch, as did an SS transport reservists (Army Cover) Soldbuch who served in Paris (etc., etc.) ??? Such "SS" Runes were indeed used on SS (Army Cover) Soldbuchs, Wehrpasses, etc, but NOT this specific SS Rune Stamp (for a look at a REAL SS Runes stamping, look at the Wehrpass Bill Hughes posted in his "Warsaw" thread).

Probably also my fault, I didn't want to do something wrong.
Was just asking for some opinions.

Hundestaffel, Rob, and Ian, thanks for your help!

Yes, of course the Soldbuch is original and was issued to this man who served in the Artillerie-Regiment of the LSSAH - the majority of the entries are legitimate and original. Nobody is telling you that it's a complete forgery... It has, however, been screwed with post war. I said nothing about the SS runes on the front cover which - as my friend and esteemed colleague "Hundestaffel" has already pointed out to you, are more than likely fake; they have turned up on a number of fake SS Soldbücher in the past.

IMHO the photo has been added post war. I also question some of the entries but again, as I said in my previous post, I'd want to have this one in-hand to know for sure.

Simply put, if I were offered this Soldbuch, I'd pass on it.
