        Erwin-

My statement that Temp and StuG.Brgd.667 participated in the fighting during Operation Market-Garden was made based on information I found during a quick initial research run I did on the Soldbuch (I have yet to fully research this one, it arrived the day before I posted it up here). Of course, now I cannot locate the website I found this info on and I did not bookmark it!

Sturmvogel (http://www.sturmvogel.orbat.com/stug.html) lists StuG.Brgd.667 as being in Holland September/October 1944:

Sep-Oct 44 the Netherlands, assigned to Kampfgruppe Chill

...and as I haven't been able to locate any detailed information on the Brigade or the exact date they arrived in Holland, after talking with Ian Jewison it sounds like he believes that based on the Sturmvogel info, the Brigade didn't arrive until 'late' September - most likely just after M-G had come to a close.

I interpreted those dates differently, and with the other info I read was lead to believe that StuG.Brgd.667 did in fact fight during the end of M-G, but if you are saying that StuG.Brgd.667 did not participate in M-G based on detailed research a friend of yours did while preparing a book on the subject, then I will take your word for it.

Here's a little something to help keep the thread going...

This just arrived today, a Zweitschrift Führerschein issued on 03.May 1944 to Oberfeldwebel Heinz Frost, 6./Panzer-Regiment 6, 3.Panzer-Division.

Panzer-Archive.de confirms that Frost was a recipient of the Panzerkampfabzeichen II. Stufe "25" which Frost is wearing in the photo on the Führerschein

This Führerschein qualified Frost to drive fully tracked vehicles up to 30 tons. At the time it was issued, II./Pz.Rgt.6 was equipped with Panzer IVs and, given Frost's rank there's a good chance he would have been a tank commander, possibly even a Zug Führer.

A HUGE "Thanks" to my friend Giel for finally selling this one to me... I've been after it for two years now after being one minute too late when it was posted for sale on the estand

          Thanks, buddy
          Rob

                    Fantastic.

That 6./Panzer-Regiment 6, 3.Panzer-Division License is simply outstanding.

After Ian's and Rob's Soldbücher, this is not much but I do love the photo!
Aloys Ruland served his entire career With the Stab/Panzer Rgt. 9 of the 25th Pz Div.

His unit page. The 25th spent Dec.-May 44 in Russia near Kamenetz-Podolsk, where it was destroyed (Ruland made it). It was reformed in the summer of 1944 and fought in Poland, Oder and ended in Austria.

He only eraned the Fuhrerpaket and KVK II with swords. Interesting that the KVK II was awarded through the 8th Panzer Div.

Sorry if i go out of the topic for a sec,

When would a soldier earn a Fuhrerpaket?

                                Jeff-

Wonderful 25.Panzer-Division Soldbuch, and as you said a beautiful photo!

Regarding the KVK.II issued through the 8.Pz.Div... Was Pz.Rgt.9 subordinated to 8.Pz.Div around the time of the award? That could possibly explain the issue through 8.Pz.Div...

Great book! It's a real treat to see items from your collection, so thanks for posting this here

Daniele- The Führergeschenk or Führerpaket was issued to Soldiers upon taking leave, sort of a morale booster which included extra rations of tobacco, food, chocolate... If you go through your SB's you will see that the issue of a Führergeschenk will usually coincide with the soldier taking leave.
