Here is another Soldbuch out of my collection.

Oberfeldwebel Petzold served from 1940 until August 1944 mostly with Supply units.
In August 1944 after a few weeks of training he was sent to I./Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 2 which was under command of Major Finzel.
Originally I./FJR 2 was formed to join the original Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 2, which was in Normandy at that time.

Due to the heavy fightings in Normandy and the fact that the original Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 2 was encircled in Best, the 'new' I./FJR 2 could not join the 'old' unit in Normandy.
The Bataillon received orders from Fallschirm-Armee-Oberkommando (Fallschirm AOK) and was sent to Belgium along the Albertkanaal. Between September 8th and September 20th it was in heavy fightings around Heppen, Beverlo, Leopoldsburg, Geel, Mol and by Dessel at the Maas-Scheldekanaal.

On September 20th it received orders from Fallschirm AOK and was sent to the area of Schijndel-Eerde-Veghel. At that time it was attached to the Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 6 'Von der Heydte'.
At September 24th it's objective was to cut the corridor. While I./FJR 2 'Finzel' attacked via the Wijbosch along the Zuid-Willemsvaart towards Eerde, FJR 6 'von der Heydte' attacked Eerde via the Eerdse Bergen. On the southern flank Bataillon Jungwirth attacks towards the Koevering and Logtenburg.

Bataillon Finzel quickly advance through the Wijbosch but on the outskirts of Eerde it get involved in heavy fightings with the 501st P.I.R. of the 101st Airborne Division.

On this day Oberfeldwebel Petzold was wounded due to the heavy fightings(31a combat wound) and sent to the Kriegslazarett in Utrecht.

Note that FJR 2 didn't fought in Normandy but in Brittany (Bretagne) and was destroyed in Brest in september : it's not realy the same place...

Nice one Dennis. Actually I have doubts for a quite some time. In my opininion some people are only fishing for interesting ID's which fitt in their own collection. I'm sure you be aware of it.

But assuming you both really wanted to see a new Market Garden related ID, here is one you might find interesting. It's from my very good friend Dick and he just got it from me directly without claiming the first right of refusal and i know for sure it has found a good new home in his collection. It was ok for him that i post this detail just of the fact that his soldbuch had some simularities (same fighting areas) with the one Dennis posted and it was once in my collection.

I'm sorry that I cropped it and marked it on his request. It's a detail from the award list from the soldbuch from a guy who served as a panzer commander in s/pz jag abt 559 during the battles in Belgium prior to Market Garden and in Holland during Market garden. His panzer supported the soldiers from fsj regiment Finzel during their fights in the places on your list. As another coincidence he fought also in the Eerde area against the US Airborne troops. He got his Black Wound Badge after he got wounded after his panzer got a direct hit. the entry is signed by major Sattler, Abt. commander.

It was assured to me by a serious Panzer ID Collector that there was a better soldbuch related to this unit but who cares.. My good friend Dick is very happy with it

Thank you for sharing. This one is nice because it is signed by Sattler before he was wounded. I haven't picked up any Arnhem related items for a while. They don't often surface in Australia...

This PAB document was signed by SS Sturmbannfuhrer Eberhard Telkamp, exactly 69 years ago on 30 september 1944
