    New Soldbuch Questions

Hi, I got this very interesting soldbuch last week and I have a few questions. On page 3, line 4 is "5/ sicherungs btl II Jassy" I can't find anything on that unit and nothing else is entered in the sb either for this btl. Anyone have any ideas?

    New Soldbuch Question Two

What unit belongs to the feld post number on line 10? Also on the last entry, 31a is listed, is this for a previous wound or a new one? The date is May 15 , 1945 , his most recent previous wound is a 31 b. What do you guys think?

      New Soldbuch Question Three

Finally is a page with post war pay for the soldier being in 12th kp 2nd regiment, as a PWE in Dachau. What kind of regiment is this?

That is a Prisoner of war unit...I believe it stood for "Prisoner of War, Europe".
Could be that he has used in the clearing up and work etc. associated with Dachau KZ?

Hi, I originally posted these seperately. I figured whoever had a comment for an individual page would post to that thread. Does anyone at least know the fp nr ? thanks

Sicherungs-Bataillon 522 was located at Jassy in 1944 it was created from II. Bataillon of Sicherungs-Regiment 610

            http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...chBat522-R.htm

            Ian is right -
look at the date, 31 of June until 7 of July, 1945 then Krgs. Gef. L. Dachau (Kriegsgefangenenlager Dachau) followed by the english abbreviation PWE

He was shot in the thigh (Oberschenkelschuss) on Oct 23 1942 and received several funktionale Nachbehandlungen = functional after-treatments.

BTW; the SS-Feldlazarett 500 was located in Budapest.

On May 15 1945 he was admitted at the Reservelazarett in Altötting - The Americans took the town of Altötting twelve days before on May 3 1945 - so he was already a POW.

I merged them together. If it had been for 3 different soldbuchs, that would be different, but since it's all about one, they should be together.

Thanks, I should have just gone down the entire list on Lexicon for the sicherungs btl.

I knew he was in Dachau, but was wondering how it was organized and what duties performed after the war.

The man was in SS Kav. Rgt. 15, so that fits well with the lazarett in Budapest.

As for the 31a entry, he still could have been on the move after the end, to evade capture and then shot.

And Hank, thanks for your reasoning.

I would still like anyone's ideas', interest or information on the Dachau organisation after the war and the 31a entry a week after the war.

Any information on the organisation of the work regiment in post war Dachau and how long it was used and what type of men were involved in it?

The only thing ,the "Tessin" tells us about a Sicherungs- Bataillon II is a Luftwaffe unit , the Luftwaffen-Sicherungs-Btl. II which is said to be in the southeast front in the end of 1944 ,getting its Feldpost via Luftgau XVII

The Feldpost Number matches the mans unit that you mentioned for the date shown...

                              (6.4.1944-9.11.1944) 13.6.1944 Regimentsstab u. Stabs-Schwadron Kavallerie-Regiment 15 (8. SS-Division),
                              (6.4.1944-9.11.1944) 10.8.1944 Regimentsstab u. Einheit Kavallerie-Regiment 15 (8. SS-Division).
