    Tätigkeitsabzeichen für E-Mess-Leute.

It is an award for people (soldiers) who were scilled in electronic measurement.

The FLAK used electronic measures to identify where and in which heighth the a/c flew on the sky to shoot on them.
My English it a bit rusty, excuse.

      Thanks Gerdan

So essentially it was an award for radar operators or range finders. Was it an actual medal or just a certificate?

        Jonathan -

I'm 99% certain that it was just a paper certificate. "E-Mess" means Entfernungsmeß = range finding.

This was a cloth trade patch worn on the lower left sleeve.....indicates that he was qualified in that equipment/trade.

After being proficient in that trade for some time and showing good example he could be awarded a gold chord to go around the patch....this normally came with a citation/Urukunde, however the former badge I believe was given out at the end of the course with a graduating certificate.

Heres an example for sale on Andre Huesken's site:

Thw WP also has this entry in the last page. Its no linked to the award from before but as i didnt want to cluter up the forum with another thread it stick it here. The stamp is obviously in cyrillic letters, is the handwriting too? Judging from the date im guessing it may have to do with him passing from Soviet to an Allied ZOC or to do with his discharge as a POW?

              Thanks
