Good day at Detlev's for document collectors

Well, that was a good update. Lots of nice documents, Soldbücher, etc. especially if you are a KM collector. Anyone happen to score anything? As usual, I missed out on the one I tried for, the U-1105 grouping...

I really like the U-413/3041 SB, but I'm not sure on that EKI entry- looks bad to me.

The Curt von Gottberg grouping is just incredible but mein Gott, the price

Let's hear if you got anything good!

      Rob,
You can be on line when he updates and not be fast enough to get most of his new items!

        Hello!

Does anyone know where the Generalmajor von Neindorff, (Tarnopol) grouping went.

I saw it once, made a phone call...and now it is gone!

        Anyone have an idea?

          hello Rob,

          - Indeed the documents are great.
But are you sure that the documents and the medals & badges have been together since 1944?

          Cheers,
          Peter

            Peter-

Of course not You and I both know that there is no way to prove beyond a doubt that the medals are actually von Gottberg's... especially when they come from a dealer! Who knows how many times that grouping has changed hands, and if the medals were 'swapped out' - or if they ever even came onto the market with the documents.

I would never purchase a document and medal grouping based on the assumption that the medals are original to the group. Even when they come directly from the vet's or their families, there's still no way to be absolutely sure that the medals belong to the documents, and that they are the ones that were actually worn by that individual, in combat. Even with period photographic evidence I would still remain somewhat skeptical if the medals are original to a grouping - but then that's not what impressed me with this one
