    Wehrpass referencing Prag (Prague)

    Hi everyone!

This is my first post on the forum so don't beat me up too badly!

I have a Wehrpass that I picked up in my antiquing travels and would love to know more about it. I've been to several sites with general history and background about these documents. But I can't seem to find anyone who can tell me if the one I have is common, uncommon or junk. What I've noticed from looking at several here on this forum and a few other sites is that many of them showed much more activity than this one does of mine. I'm also curious about the pink sheet that was folded up with it.

I don't normally deal in foreign military articles. My husband collects American, British and Russian medals and awards but hasn't had an interest in German. Probably because he doesn't have any German in his background, all British. And he spent some time in Russia.

Anyway... here are some pics of it. I was fool enough to try listing it on ebay. Even though I blocked out the swastikas on the pages they pulled it shortly after I listed it. I am interested in selling it but would at least like to know what I have before trying to find a buyer again.

    Thanks for all your time!

Hi Cheryl, and welcome to the forum.

The Wehrpass you've posted is to a man who was brought into the German Army in 1943, as "Wehrpflichtig", roughly meaning he was required to serve, wasn't voluntary. The book is pretty much empty, as he probably didn't see much, if any, active duty/combat service. By 1943 he was already 53/54 years old. He attended a couple of basic courses, and was brought in as an "Unteroffizier", or NCO.

As far as "worth", it's probably not going to bring much more than $20 to $30 (my opinion) unless it happens to be exactly what somebody is looking for, i.e., they collect items from Prag, or the specific unit, etc.

    Hope this info helps.

    All the best,
    Hank
