    Could anyone tell me what this unit would be " 2/N.4 I. "

    You may have to shoot the tag and put it up, 'cause it doesn't seem to make any sense. "N" usually stands for Nachrichten (communications/signals) and the "2" in front of the slant usually refers to the Kompanie (company). The "4" would be the regiment number and the Roman I would be the Abteilung. So it might be 2.Kp./Nachrichten-Rgt. 4 (I. Abt.). But that's just an educated guess. It seems to be toooooo abbreviated to me, and the Roman I at the end bothers me.

        Well, that's certainly what it says. But I thought it was on an Erkennungsmarke (dogtag). It appears to be stamped into leather. Is that right?
