              That one looks OK!!!

He served with the anti tank unit of 27 Infanterie Division, reformed autumn 1940 as 17 Panzer Division.

Was he wounded? Looks like he spent the rest of the war mainly with replacement units.....interestingly his Kriegsstammrollennummer is the same for 2 Replacement units and front units, indicating that perhaps these Kompanien were used to form the front unit!......latter formed a training unit (Jagdtiger) also.....

Pz.Jäg.Abt. 657 was in Breda at that time........

If he was not wounded, he most probably was used as Kompanie Hauptfeldwebel....

              /Ian

                Jagdtiger Wehrpass

Ian, I was certain about this one and have shown it to Karl-Heinz Münch who also found it to be correct. I assume that he was used for training purposes due to age and experience (was over 30 at wars end and had fought in Poland, France and Russia). There is no listing of any wound or Lazarett time in the Wehrpass and no black wound badge in the Wehrpass, only the Eastern Front medal.

PzV, that's an interesting Wp. I have a Soldbuch to an Uffz. who was also with the 27th PzJager Abt during the same time, but in the 1st Company. He stayed with them from 1941 until Spring 1944. He then went to an independent Stug Komp in the West and at the end in the East with the same Komp.

It looks like your man was an old sweat. Nice Weimar era stamping without swastikas used on his Wp photo. Looks like he was assigned to the Munchen area for sometime with replacement and training units of the 7th Pz Jag Abt. He was also promoted from Hauptfeldwebel to Ltn d. Res in Feb, 45.

I have a hard on for Jagdtigers and it would have been interesting to learn more about his service, too bad theres so little information in this WP. However its a very interesting one.

                            Jagdtiger Wehrpass

Edward, that is my opinion also that he was an older soldier, but experienced and therefore the training activity. Ernst, I also agree, more entries would be nicer but that is often the case and it is not unusual that as of about 1943 they simply ceased entering actions into the Wehrpass. I was simply happy to get this one as Jagdtiger references are few and far between.

He was discharged 28 February 1945 as a Hauptfeldwebel and was suitable for promotion to Leutnant der Reserve....not promoted!
