@Eric You only tell me for longer time that nobody can 100% say if the last two awards was original wrote and that was absolutley wright !!!

The two other person Detlev Niemann ( with his expertise and by phone ) and the member M.1703 ( he don´t want that i wrote his original name ) tell me that all Paratrooper entries was fake and the people can not be a paratrooper !!!!

Only for the opinion from this two person I ask all other for help and not for the opinion from Eric Queen ( than he tell me only that without WAST nobody can tell 100 % for the last two awards was original and not the rest from the Wehrpass and without this informations we can not say 100% )

So please stop the discusion for Eric he have not say anything the was wrong

    Regards Thomas

I hope Detlev returns the Wehrpass back to you...now that almost everyone knows this one is good. These COA's are not worth the paper they are written on and unfortunately the word of a dealer was taken over those who have alot of experience and have been collecting them for many years. I hope you enjoy the original WP when and if you get it back.

Thomas, here is part of the problem that I see not just with this thread, but one which can be found in similar examples throughout the WAF. You asked a very basic question re the originality of the award entries to the Wehrpass in question. Earlier on no less than 3 of the most experienced members on passbooks replied. Collectively you would be hard pressed to find a more knowledgable group on the subject. There answers were across-the-board unanimous that the entries were original. Knowing that alone should have been reassuring enough to hold onto it. Instead you returned it to the dealer based on the opinions of others who had not posted to debate why it was bad. Of course that is your decision, but it is also a reason why in such similar situations experienced members sometimes do not bother with replying to requests.

You see that wrong the Wehrpass came from private and I were over the authenticity not surely, for that the Thread here in the forum. Unfortunately the answers of the experts did not come only to that send the Wehrpass too detlev and the result were a negative Expertise
But only for the opinions of Gary, Peter, Bary and Rob I give not back to the collector friend than the opinions from my friends were more worth than the Expertise from detlev
There fore I am to be been also very glad and proud in this forum

Thank you Thomas for the clarification. I am glad to hear that you followed through on my suggestion and vetted the posthumous awards through WASt. Now you know for sure. No doubts.

It would seem that I am not the one who owes the apology after all.

I must admit that I find the "conceited attitude toward so-called lesser collectors" comment perplexing. I don't think I have any negative attitudes towards "lesser" (i.e. newer, less advanced) collectors at all. I think there are several on this forum whom I have attempted to help the best I could. I do admit though that I don't have a lot of time for idiots, which really has nothing to do with how long you have been collecting, or how advanced your collection is (a fact that some of the responses to this thread clearly illustrate)

Personally, I can vouch for that. I have met few collectors who are as ready to help other colelctors and share information as Eric.

I wasnt originally going to throw my weight into this, but I would like to reiterate Edgar's sentiments. I started collecting FJ material nearly 3 years ago and Eric was there from the start, always willing to provide advice for a variety of pieces, quips regarding the collecting world, and great deals on some of the marvelous items in his collection. I honestly do not know where I would be without help from a knowledged collector like that.

                        Thomas-

Great work with the WASt research. As I told you in our correspondence, I had no doubt that the entries being questioned were original. I just wish you had waited to return the WP until after you had done the research

Barry, Ian, Peter and Gary are some of the most knowledgeable and experienced document collectors I have the privilege of knowing, and when all these guys agree on an entry being original, I’d bet money on that decision being a good one!

As others have said, this basically proves that a COA is worth nothing more than the paper it is written on. Hopefully other collectors will learn from this and see that a COA has actually 'cost' someone not just cash out of their pocket, but also the item itself. I think a full refund of the COA fee is in order.

Thomas, you are a good friend and a great person. I hate to see you lose out on such a wonderful, original WP and I wish you the best of luck in (hopefully ) re-acquiring it.
