    SS Soldbuch question

    Dear All,

Got a grouping with this Soldbuch and am wondering what exactly this guy did in the "Begleit Btl RF SS", and wether he participated in the famous Arnhem battle while serving with the SS PzGren A.u.E. Btl. 16.

    Thanks!

    Best regards,

    Albert

    Albert,

There is a good chance that he did fight at Arnhem but would need to see a few more pages. SS Pz Gr AuE Btl 16 was only changed to that designation (from SS - Pz Gr AuE Btl 12) in early September 1944. With the Battle of Arnhem starting on the 17th then there is a good chance indeed. I would love to see more if possible.

Also - if you are thinking of selling then please contact me first....Thanks

    Cheers

      Scott,

Thanks a lot! Just let me know what pages to post.

The SB is part of a rather big document, award and paper grouping. The guy was a true fighter. He fought under Otto Baum and got commendations from Baum and his Btn. commander for bravery. Was wounded SIX times, one of the wounds was inflicted by an explosive bullit to his head.

      BR,
      Albert

        Albert,

I guess any pages that refer to an award, hospital or other entry signed by a Komp Chef around Sept - Oct 1944. I know all three company commanders so it would not be difficult to confirm. If you are happy to scan all pages for interest then I would love to see. Also happy to take offline if we are getting off topic.

        Cheers

        Scott

Unless it was nighttime, or the weather was bad, and you were running out of gas - then it was a sweaty nightmare, like a monkey f*ing a skunk.

Ok, fasten your seatbelts . Here is the SB, first page is missing, unfortunately, but still a kick ass piece with a lot of entries:

Yep, sure was. Here is his "SS Leave Pass" for "extraordinary bravery in the face of the enemy". Unless his leave was cancellen...:

                              Albert,
WOW!! Thanks for sharing!! Awesome Soldbuch & supporting documents you have there. Is the cover marked SS?? The reason I ask is page 19 that you show was normally page 22/23 in SS bucher. This was often used a security check page.

                              Sepp
