What are the chances of this happening?

A couple of days ago i found this tag, dug up in one of the many rubbish pits left by the Germans in Norway. I was surprised to find a LW flak tag as the area it was found was occupied by Heer troops in '45.

As you can see the unit is the 3 Batterie of Reserve Flak Abteilung 352, equipped with '88s, renamed as a mixed or gemischte abteilung in July 42. The battery disappears from records in Nov.44 and is also absent in May 45, although other elements of the abteilung were still in existence. I'm starting to think that the battery lost it's guns during the retreat from the Murmansk front and it's men remustered into the Heer to make up the losses suffered by, in this case, the 6 Geb.Div.

So i got home last night and hit the books as the unit number rang a bell somewhere in the back of my head. Looking through my LW docs collection i was stunned to find that i actually have an EKII doc to this exact same battery! One of only two flak groupings\docs i own and only the third tag i've ever found.

Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

Fate has a way of throwing things like this up every now and then. Great find and thinks for sharing!

And the tag has a low number, which, I believe means it is belonging to a higher ranking member of the unit. Is this generally true?

        Nice find.

Hello Erich i think it is not generally true but i think the probability that a low number conceals a higher rank is higher in comparing by high numbers.

I have id disc which are one digit, but the wearer are all in rank as a Gefreiter or Obergefreiter.

          Best Andreas

Great find Simon, what are the chances of something like this happening,
like it was meant to be.
