    WP Reich last defence

    Hello,

Want to show you one of the Wehrpass acquired to April to Ciney.

The WP more simple, that acquired for little money.
No elite unit , no battles, no decorations. For me however interesting.
I have read that in 1945 the RAD trained exclusively the recruits for 2 month before the dispatch at war and with the arrival of americans in the Vaterland it constituted 4 divisions of infantry of which three participated to operations before the surrender.
This can be the history not writing of this child ?

Germany. 6 April 1945. The war is to the end. A child of 16 years of Iserlohn is enlisted in one destroyed nation. The child is destined to the R.A.D but receives however instructions to the use of a weapon: “the panzerfaust”.
The stamp to pag. 6 identifies the Arbeitsgruppen n.103 (Arbeitsgau X Niederschlesien ).
Beside to the tires soldiers of the combats the civilians enlists in the Volkssturm and the other paramilitary units that looks for to stop the American troops. Between these it comes trained the staff that will go to form the antitank unities of the last hour to defend the great cities and the industrial zones. Between old they and children. Me memory one age photo. Armed children simply of panzerfaust and without whichever weapon for the personal defence, are in saddle to their bicycles. On handle-bar 2 panzerfaust. It is moved in a hurry with irresponsibility from in their city to defend the ruins of Reich how to in a terrible game.
(To Iserlohn the war ended the 15 April 1945).

Someone has other WP of the last hour? This is the first that see.

    ranville.

          Hello Ranville,

Nice pass, but with RAD Infantry Divisions you most probably refer to the so called Infanterie-Divisions "Schlageter". Formed Mar.-Apr.45 from RAD members and soldiers of the 299.Infanterie-Division (in the Münsterlager). Just search for "Schlageter RAD" on the internet to find information about these units.

When this child would have served with one of these units it should have been entered in the pass.

            Hi Ranville,

When only "Panzerfaust" is entered in the Wehrpaß and further on nothing else than the RAD entry I don't think your boy served with a combat unit what so ever.

            yours friendly

              Hello Peter,

Thanks to your suggestion I have done a search on the four RAD divisions.

              Infanterie-Div. "Schlageter" (1.RAD-Div.) Formed: 31 Mar. 1945 - Wkr. X
              from Stab 299 Infanterie-Div.

              Infanterie-Div. "Friedrich L. Jahn" (2.RAD-Div.) Formed: 31 Mar. 1945 - Wkr. III
              from Stab 251 Infanterie-Div.

              Infanterie-Div. "Theodor Körner" (3.RAD-Div.) Formed: 04 Apr. 1945 - Wkr. III
              from Stab 215 Infanterie-Div.

              Infanterie-Div. "Güstrow" (4.RAD-Div.) Formed: 29 Apr. 1945 - Wkr. II
from Stabs 131 VG Div. – 563 VG Div.

Unfortunately I have not found information that can confirm the assignment of personnel of the RAD deriving by the Arbeitsgruppen n.103 (Arbeitsgau X Niederschlesien ) where it were the boy.
              A curiosity; to Iserlohn the war is finished with the surrender of an unity of tanks to americans;
              (1 Kompanie Panzerjäger-Abteilung 512 mit "Jagdtiger" )
during the searches I have found in the middle of this film of epoch the images of the surrender:

              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhd7PD8EGJg&NR

Perhaps among the present civilians there was also the boy???

              Hello Eric-Jan Bakker,

It is probable that you are reason, if this boy had fought in one of the four divisions RAD on the WP must be annotated at least the assignment to a division.

However all it is possible to. We consider that it are at the end of the war, the boy is enlisted on 6 April 45 to Iserlohn where the war ends on 15 April. In that chaos they have found the time to mark all?
This boy perhaps indoctrinated would have been able to fight about the streets also without be allotted to one of that divisions?

Perhaps not never will know it. An answer would be able come from the comparison of other analogous WP perhaps in the possession of other friends of the forum that invite to show.

              Thanks.
